🧑💼 Business is booming
The youth of today are by no means relying on regular household jobs alone to pay their way. In fact, from February 2022 – February 2023, Rooster Money kids have been more enterprising than ever – always looking for new, independent ways to top up their account.
Outside of the top chores, the more entrepreneurial Rooster kids have managed to raise an average of £50.84 each. That’s up 16% from last year!
💡 Business Savvy Suggestions
While kids’ budding entrepreneurial spirit impressed us all here at Rooster Money, we thought we’d put together some business ideas for them to try.
👨🎨 Arts & Crafts
If your kids enjoy expressing their artistic side, why not encourage them to turn it into an opportunity to receive commissions from family members, such as aunts, uncles, or grandparents? They could try their hand at wreath making, making some jewellery, or making some personalised greetings cards!
👩🌾 Gardening
Are your kids green fingered, or just enjoy being outside? They could offer a ‘landscaping’ service for family and friends, or even neighbours. Be it picking weeds, or mowing the grass if they’re a bit older, they could make some extra pocket money by helping keep everything prim & proper. (But you will be the best judge of whether your kids can manage a lawnmower!)
🐶 Pet Sitting
Most kids love animals, and if yours do, check if any friends or family could do with their dog getting walked, or if their cats need feeding. Kids could earn a little extra cash by doing simple tasks to help out in looking after pets (and make some pennies whilst they’re at it).
🎷 Music Concert
Do your kids love blaring ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ from their recorder? Or ‘Silent Night’ on their violin? They could organise a small concert for you and your family; get them to organise a setlist, the drinks that will be ‘on sale’, and charge a couple of pence for the experience of letting them play to their heart’s content. Lucky you!
🥤 Juice Stand
A classic for a reason, setting up a lemonade / squash stand is a great way for kids to show their business know-how. With a simple foldable table, and their juice of choice, they can set up a Juice Stand to sell some much needed refreshment to neighbours on a hot summer’s day.
