Jodie Munley and her children Edward (10) and Oliver (8) live in Cornwall, and have been using RoosterMoney since 2019. Discover how it’s changed the way they deal with chores and money.

Did you give pocket money before starting RoosterMoney? If so, what problems did you have? 💰

We did give pocket money, but the majority of our kid’s spend comes from jobs they do around the house. Unfortunately, We kept forgetting what jobs they had completed, so they never quite got the money they should have done.

Why did you start using RoosterMoney? 📲

We were using another company who had a similar set up. However, RoosterMoney was recommended to us, as they were better value. The monthly cost was less and there was a sibling discount.

How do you use RoosterMoney today? 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The children have a small amount of pocket money, which automatically reaches their account each week. They then supplement this by doing various jobs around the house. These are very easy to tick off, and the money they get from doing things like, dusting, is added to their account instantly. They can check their balances on their own device too.

What are your favourite things about RoosterMoney? 🎉

I have so many things I love about it. It enables me to keep track of the money they have earned as the chores list is so easy to personalise and tick off on the app. I think it’s great that we can move money into their savings pot easily, so they can’t accidentally spend it in a shop, when I’m not with them. The children love it as they have their own card, and love to see their money grow.

Has RoosterMoney made life easier? 😌

Yes. Getting the children to save their money, instead of burning a whole in their pocket is so much easier now. It also means that now they can save, they see the value of helping out around the house.

How has RoosterMoney changed your kids' understanding of money? Do you feel they're better savers or smarter spenders? 👩‍🎓

Seeing their balances digitally means so much more than seeing a pile of coins in a money box. That’s a complete game changer for my kids. They will ask for jobs to do to earn money to buy their own things, instead of asking us whenever we go anywhere.

Give us your top pocket money tip to share. ✍️

Offer lots of opportunities to do little jobs for small amounts of money, instead of lots of money for one or two jobs; that worked for us. Do this and they see their balance increase really regularly,  and they get hooked on that feeling. It doesn’t have to cost the Earth.

Anything else you’d like to add? 🤔

When we first joined RoosterMoney I had a few problems navigating the app. The customer service I received was amazing. So helpful and a really quick response. The feedback is clearly taken onboard too, as the app updates fairly regularly to make it easier to use.
