🎟 Backyard Carnival
Step right up! Why not transform your garden into a colourful carnival extravaganza? You and your kids could set up DIY carnival games like ring tossing, bean bag tossing, or tin knock down. The kids could get crafty, too, by making colourful banners and streamers to really create the atmosphere of a fair. Reward yourselves with tickets that can ‘buy’ prizes, like ice cream, a hot dog, or some sweets.
⛳️ Mini-Golf
With more mini-golf courses popping up all around the UK, it’s a perfect outdoor summer activity for you and your kids to try. There are plenty of indoor courses too, should the summer weather be on the rainy side.
From dinosaur themes to pirate themes, there are loads of different courses for you and your kids to try. However, for a more wallet and purse friendly version, you could create your own backyard course!
Why not turn it into a sneaky maths lesson, too? Ask the kids to tally up everyone’s scores at the end of the game.
🎬 Outdoor Movie Night
If you can, an outdoor movie night in the garden can be an excellent way to create a lasting family memory. If the weather is warm and dry, take a laptop or tablet outside, set up some blankets or comfy seats, and get ready for a cosy outdoor movie night with a family friendly film.
Just don’t forget the popcorn and snacks!
🧺 Summer Picnic
A picnic is a summertime classic, and it’s easy to understand why. Head out to the garden with some sandwiches, sweets, crisps, and juice will make for a great day out.
The kids can help, too: ask them to help in the kitchen to make some sandwiches (with parental supervision, to avoid some wild concoctions), and to help make up some squash. You could also make your own ice-lollies as a cheaper alternative to the ice-cream van. Alternatively, if you are going to a local park, put an insulated water bottle in the freezer the night before. Before you leave, take it out and pop your ice-lollies in the bottle to keep them chilled!
