🎥 Why does it cost so much to make a movie?
Anyone can shoot a film on their phone, but it’s hard to create a very good movie that will pack cinemas across the world. Make a cheap one, and you might not have the star, the story or the special effects to draw in crowds. If only a few people see your film, it’ll never make lots of money, but spend big to begin with, and you stand a better chance of reaching a huge audience, and making a big profit.
🍫Why aren’t there ad breaks during movies?
There are no ads to break up your film at the cinema, but companies still find ways to sneak into films, via product placement. That’s when everyone from car makers to chocolate firms pay to have their stuff in a film. The latest James Bond film had to reshoot product-placement scenes to make sure the latest products were in this much-delayed film.

🤩 Who is the world’s highest paid actor?
This changes from year to year. In 2021 Daniel Craig is said to have topped the list, earning $100 million (£73 million). In previous years Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and George Clooney have been placed number one in similar charts.

💸 Do big movies lose money?
They certainly can lose money, though sometimes a seemingly successful film can look like its lost money, thanks to something known as Hollywood Accounting, or a tricksy way of shifting costs and income. If a film appears to have lost money, it might not have to pay its star so much.

🍿Why is popcorn expensive at the movies?
Cinemas don’t get to keep all the money from ticket sales. During the opening week of big movies, they may have to give back as much as 70 percent to the film companies. However, cinemas make much more money on the snacks you buy. So, pricey popcorn lets them keep ticket prices down.
